Hello, my name is Rekha Halai and I am the Learning and Development Manager at RNOH overseeing the education function for the Trust. This includes the Corporate Induction/On-boarding process, Mandatory training which includes locally determined training, Workforce Development/CDP development, Apprenticeship portfolio and work experience with the outreach work. This also included overseeing the Learning Hub (Learning Management System)
What Apprenticeship are you currently studying and how are you finding it?
Currently I am studying the Level 7 People Professional Apprenticeship Programme which includes a CIPD Masters in Strategic People Management and a formal qualification in Coaching at the University of East London. I am moving into Term 2 which is exciting and Term 1 was a great success with distinction mark for my assignment which has given me the drive to succeed in this programme.
How has the apprenticeship supported your career development/progression? Your future career plans.
Yes it is allowing me to consolidate all my years of experience with learning and development and my career within the NHS for the last 16 years. It allows me to reflect on my previous qualification and theory applied into my working environment.
What would you say to someone wondering if an apprenticeship is right for them/for their development?
Why not… the blended way of learning which allows you to work and gain formal qualifications utilising your knowledge and experience is brilliant. I find I learn much more this way then I have learnt in the traditional way of schooling.
