Congratulations to Dimitri Coutya, Olympic gold medallist and RNOH patient, on being awarded an MBE for services to fencing.

dimitri coutya gold medal Paris 2024.PNGDimitri is the Cat B Wheelchair Fencing Champion for Individual Foil and Individual Epee at the Paris 2024 Summer Paralympics.

He became the first British Fencing athlete to be selected for the Paralympics, to fence in all three individual weapons (Sabre, Foil and Epee) and the first Brit to win an Individual Foil Gold since Cyril Thomas in Tokyo 1964.

And congratulations also to Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) director and co-founder Rachel Yates, who receives an MBE for services to clinical quality improvement and patient safety. Rachel has been with the GIRFT programme since its inception, working with Prof Tim Briggs to build it into the programme it is today.
