Spinal consultants visit Singapore

In late May, Consultant Spinal Surgeons Mr John Afolayan and Mr Hanny Anwar (Divisional Clinical Director of Specialist Surgey) travelled to Singapore as guests of Singapore General and Changi General Hospitals. Following their visit, Mr Afolayan sent us this report:

"We truly were humbled and completely blown away by the hospitality and general warmth of the Spinal and Orthopaedic team at Singapore General (SGH) and Changi General Hospitals (CGH).

Facilitated by Dr Ou Yang Youheng, currently in a fellowship post at RNOH, the week long visit was an enriching experience filled with shared clinical experiences, lectures, live theatre observership and visits to the rehabilitation facilities.

Amongst many, highlights included joint research meetings, discussion of formal institutional collaboration, observation of the general cohesiveness of teams and discussions with the dedicated clinical outcomes collating team.

We'll find it hard repay their generous hospitality but we look forward to trying to reciprocate. We anticipate future collaborations on surgical training, further formalised observership/fellowships and expanding research collaborations.
